Have a nice summer.

June 10th, 2011, Mesa Second Friday Event

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

My name is Bob Nelson, and I am helping
assisting with the upcoming June 10th Mesa Second Friday Event, themed for
books! I thought the members of the Arizona Mystery Writers would be interested
in participating. The Second Fridays downtown event in Mesa has drawn
considerable attention for it’s fun and unique family atmosphere. For the month
of June, the merchants that organize the event would like to showcase writing
and the literary arts. The Mesa Arts Center and Mesa Libraries will be
participating, as well and many of the merchants themselves.

The theme is Word on the Street, and one of the tremendous benefits that the
event offers to vendors is that there are free spaces offered to those who fit
with the theme of the event.

Please consider sending to your membership an opportunity to put their writing
in front of thousands of patrons at the event that won Best Block Party in the
2010 News Times Best of Phoenix awards. Any author or organization that would
like to participate should visit the official website for the event, 2ndfridaynightout.com.
The site contains the contact information for authors wishing to reserve a
space. Authors and arts organizations can reserve a space for free, with no
commission on sales.

Also,

We are thinking of potentially creating a world of books
where we post local writers around Main Street in various stores, and attendees
would have a ‘Passport’ to go around and have the authors stamp as people come
around from store to store. We also thought it would be nice if we rewarded
people if they purchased books from any of the authors with a drawing at the
end of the night for some prizes.

This would serve the function of getting people into your
places of business, perhaps people that would not normally come to your
business, and allow you to chat them up, as it were.

If you are interested in participating, have questions, or would
like to contribute something to the drawing at the end of the night, I would
love to hear from you.

Who’s coming so far?

NYT Bestselling Author Lisa McMann will be at Evermore Nevermore
along with Tom Leveen, Katie Mullaly & J. Patrick Ohlde, Darryl
Dawson, Caris O’Malley and Thomas Gawron.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping making this upcoming Second
Friday a tremendous event…

Thank You,

Bob Nelson
